How to Transcribe Slack Audio Clips on iOS
The "Quick Sync" Problem
Your boss sends a "quick voice note" on Slack. It's 4 minutes long. You are in a meeting, or on the subway, or just hate listening to audio. You need to know what they said now, but you can't play it out loud.
Slack's built-in transcription is improving, but it's not available on all plans and doesn't support all languages well.
The TalkFlow Solution
TalkFlow works seamlessly with Slack on iOS because it utilizes the native iOS Share Sheet.
Step-by-Step Guide
- Open Slack: Navigate to the channel or DM with the voice message.
- Long Press: Tap and hold on the audio file.
- Share File: Select "Share" or "Open in..." from the menu.
- Select TalkFlow: Tap the TalkFlow shortcut in your share sheet.
- Read: Within seconds, the transcript appears on your screen.
Benefits
- Searchable: Copy the text back into the Slack thread so everyone can see what was said (and search for it later).
- Privacy: Unlike third-party Slack bots that read all your channel messages, TalkFlow only processes the specific file you share with it.
- Multi-Language: Works even if your team speaks Spanish, French, or Hindi.
Better Remote Communication
Voice notes add humanity to remote work. Transcription adds efficiency. Use both.
